Open Interface were engaged to develop a new, more usable Information Architecture and design for the entire South Dublin County Council website. Following from the Councils success at the O2 Ability Awards, the website aims to firmly demonstrate the Councils commitment building a website for all people, regardless of ability or age.
South Dublin County Council wanted to ensure that their customer’s online experience was a positive one. The website had to be easy to use, accessible and encourage the people of South Dublin to communicate with the Council via the Internet.
Open Interface carried out in-depth workshops with personnel from each department within the Council. Each department was provided with wire-frame prototypes and site schematics in order to allows personnel to visualise how information on the site would be presented.
Detailed prototypes were developed, and were tested with members of the general public to provide feedback on the new Information Architecture and design of the site.
Finally, the company responsible for developing the site (Ennovation Solutions) were provided with detailed documentation on how information on the site was to be laid out and presented to the user, as well as a new graphic design.
